Israeli Elections and Dayenu (Enough).

 After four elections  that yielded more or less the same (unimpressive)  results - mandates evenly split and we face months of negotiating dirty deals and name calling.. If we are lucky we may even get to do this AGAINNNN. Consumed by this soap opera, we are missing what’s going on around us that could threaten the country. What would it take to make us say DAYENU to election-itis and pay attention to our survival instead? - If Hamas rained rockets down on Southern Israel, would we say DAYENU? - If Hamas rained rockets down on the center of the country, would we say DAYENU? - If balloons with bombs hit Israel, if garbage from Gaza washed onto our beaches  and flotillas of ‘human aid’ headed to our shores, would we then say DAYENU? - If Iran, goaded on and financially backed by the United States,  renewed terrorism in its fight for middle east supremacy, would we say DAYENU? - If Iran used its new-found strength to  firmly establish itself in Syria and Leba...

The TV World and Reality; The US Guardians of Freedom?

 Does the United States Qualify as a guardian of Freedom in the World      The United States has claims to be the guardians of world democracy. Our children died to bring democracy to the world and destroy tyranny. The Arlington National Cemetary  is filled with soldiers that died for this cause across the globe in numerous wars -  , Vietnam, the Korean War, . Desert Storm, the second Iraq War, the war in Afghanistan -- to name a few.      Those who judge human rights must have human right themselves. The United Nations Human rights commission does not.  Human rights sanctions are used as a political tool. This criticism has  leveled numerous times led to President Trump's withdrawal from the Human Rights Commission..    It is unlikely that freedom and love for the oppressed were the major cause of these wars.                                              Is Free Speech Over? In  1977,  Chicago Nazis applied for a permit to peacefully demonstrate.When it was denied, they contacted the ACLU protesting this violation of their first amendment. rights.  While the ACLU pondered the issue,  the Jewish grapevine spread the story to New York,  home to many Jews who came to the United States after the WWII.  We  their children were Americans who fought against the Vietnam War, relentlessly attacked  politicians, exercised our right to assemble and speak our minds.
